AmCham Welcomes Hong Kong's Rating as World's Freest Economy
|The American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong (AmCham) today welcomed the announcement that Hong Kong has retained its top ranking as the world's freest economy in the "2001 Index of Economic Freedom" by the Heritage Foundation and The Wall Street Journal.|
"This is a vote of confidence for Hong Kong and affirmation that Hong Kong's strong economic recovery and growth is underpinned by its commitment to free market principles," AmCham President Frank Martin said. "Hong Kong is the location of choice for more than 190 US regional headquarters and 285 US regional offices that have set up offices here - representing some 20 percent of all international companies in Hong Kong - and these numbers are expected to grow with China's imminent entry into the World Trade Organization," Mr Martin concluded.
