Avis Europe Plc, the leading car rental company in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia, is delighted to announce the signing of a partnership agreement with Japan Airlines, the largest airline in Japan and Asia, for participation in the airline's seven million member frequent flyer programme called JAL Mileage Bank.

The new agreement, which takes effect on 01 March 2000 will further enhance Avis' strong presence in the Asian Market where the company already works with Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Thai Airways, Eva Air and Royal Brunei Airlines.

JAL Mileage Bank Members will earn mileage credits towards free flights and upgrades when they rent a car with Avis worldwide. In addition, Avis will offer special discounts and value added offers to members.

This agreement will reinforce Avis' leadership position within the frequent traveller segment and reflects the commitment to building long term partnerships with leading airlines in major geographic regions.

Although in its early stages of the launch, Avis and JAL are already planning more innovative products and service benefits for their joint customers.

Dale Morley, Avis Europe General Manager of Asia commented on the new agreement. "Airline travel within Asia is once again growing strongly. Since launching the Avis brand in Japan during 1999, with a network of over 220 locations, it naturally became very important that we have a partner who shares the Avis commitment to quality and customer care. We are delighted therefore to be working together with JAL to offer our many joint customers a service which is second to none".
