Avis Joins Qantas Frequent Flyer Program
|Avis, Australia?s leading car rental company, has joined the Qantas Frequent Flyer program, effective 1 May 2002. Managing Director of Avis Australia, George Proos, is delighted that Avis has become a car partner in the Qantas Frequent Flyer program, which will benefit customers who are members of the popular frequent flyer program. ?Today marks the connection of two market leaders in Australia?s travel industry, who consistently work to bring its customers the best on offer. Avis has been Australia?s leading car rental company for a number of years and joining the Qantas Frequent Flyer program clearly provides greater opportunities for more travellers to benefit from Avisí superior service.?|
?We have a particularly loyal customer base - people who travel across the country on a regular basis, who know that their Avis car is always ready and waiting, wherever they may be. Joining the Qantas Frequent Flyer program will be a great benefit for our customers.?
Despite very difficult market conditions over recent months, Avis has retained its market share strength, with the overwhelming majority of customers choosing not to switch to competing brands.
Chris Brown, Chief Executive of the Tourism Task Force, commented: "It is great to see tourism icons like Qantas and Avis joining forces to serve our customers. It is very important to spread the tourist dollar to regional Australia, an area where aviation and rental car partnerships can significantly boost visitor numbers. It is an exciting and clever initiative and welcomed by the tourism industry.?
From 1 May 2002, Qantas Frequent Flyer members who rent cars through Avis will earn five points per dollar spent within Australia. Overseas car rentals will earn members 700 points per rental.
