HERTZ AND AMERICAN EXPRESS OFFER NEW PROMOTION

Effective through January 31, 2000 and available exclusively to American Express(R) Cardmembers, The Hertz Corporation has announced its new promotion of two days of complimentary use of Hertz' "next generation" NeverLost(R) navigation system when renting a NeverLost-equipped vehicle for a minimum of three days.
The promotion is available at participating U.S. locations where NeverLost is available, excluding Hertz Local Edition locations.
Advance reservations are recommended and black-out periods may apply. When making reservations, customers must mention Promotion Code 904282. Last month, Hertz began deployment of its "next generation" NeverLost in-car navigation system, manufactured by Magellan Corporation, satellite access products subsidiary of Orbital Sciences Corporation (NYSE: ORB). Hertz expects that a total of 50,000 units will be installed in the U.S. and Canada by year end, with deployment in France, Germany, the United Kingdom and Australia slated for early 2000.
"We're excited to offer Hertz customers and American Express Cardmembers the opportunity to enjoy our popular and improved NeverLost service. And, for those unfamiliar with this cutting edge technology, it provides an incentive for customers to rent from Hertz and use their American Express Card," commented Brian J. Kennedy, Executive Vice President, Marketing for Hertz.
At the heart of Hertz NeverLost is a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver, which is used to calculate the exact location of the car based upon signals from orbiting satellites, a computer map and database that directs travelers to their designated destination.
Hertz' "next generation" units feature an expanded database coverage of the 48 contiguous U.S. states; voice prompts in seven languages, including English, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Spanish; improved graphic interface, and an Instant Locate Button that displays the vehicle's exact location.
"Vehicle navigation technology has proven to be an ideal travel companion for our customers. Hertz has moved out in front of the industry in providing GPS technology for travelers since 1995, but this expansion and introduction of 'next generation' technology gives us an unmatched technological superiority," continued Kennedy.
Cars equipped with the NeverLost navigation system are available for an additional $6.00 per day.
