Hong Kong To Stage "The Glory of the Forbidden City"
|A spectacular new show is due to open in Hong Kong, City of Life, on June 7 this year at The Middle Kingdom, Ocean Park. It will be staged every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday evenings.|
"The Glory of the Forbidden City" is an acrobatic and theatrical performance, in English and Mandarin, that brings to life the glorious past of the Chinese Empire and the Forbidden City. The show opens with the Emperor and his heroic troops celebrating their victory in battle. Everyone in the palace joins them in marking the joyous occasion with dancing, music and acrobatic.
The spectacle also features an astounding "Bian Lain" - or "the changing of the Opera masks" - performance. In the blink of an eye, an opera performer magically changes masks again and again and again. It is a virtuoso display that is both captivating and almost unbelievable.
"The Glory of the Forbidden City" will be staged from 7:30 - 8:30 p.m. The Middle Kingdom will offer show goers a choice to attend the performance only, or the show with a Chinese set dinner either before or after the presentation. Free shuttle services are available both before and after the performance (and dinner) between the Admiralty Citybus Station and the Middle Kingdom. Tickets can be purchased from travel agents, hotel concierges and at the Ocean Park Tai Shue Wan entrance.
