Spring Airlines Selects Abacus As Exclusive Distribution Partner

Spring Airlines has appointed Abacus as the exclusive distribution partner promoting its new international routes and fares. The 3-year agreement gives China's largest low cost carrier an unparalleled retail distribution grid outside the mainland, with Abacus travel agents at over 20,000 locations booking seats on its competitively priced flights.

Expanding its fleet of A320s, Spring Airlines is looking to gain share on routes into Hong Kong, Kaosiung, Macau, Jeju, Bangkok and Phuket as well as Taipei, among other top Asian destinations.

"Spring Airlines has been successful in creating opportunities for travellers to explore China and we are now responding to demand for more options overseas," Chairman, Wang Zhenghua explained. "We started the airline with business from sister Spring Travel, so appreciate how important the trade channel is in building the brand. We look forward to working with Abacus agents and to offering them the best of our fares."

Robert Bailey, President and Chief Executive Officer of Abacus added, "This landmark partnership with Spring Airlines is ideally timed for the next stage of growth in low cost intra-regional travel. We are delighted to be working with China's most successful private budget carrier to give Abacus agents exclusive access to their exceptional fares. We will expand segments that already run into the millions each year."

For Abacus, the agreement broadens access to the mainland just as the company has gained approval from the Civil Aviation Authority of China to operate there as a foreign Global Distribution System. "We are committed to developing international business for the Chinese travel community, making this latest signing with Spring Airlines all the more significant," said Bailey.

Spring Airlines operates with a load factor consistently above 94 per cent. The airline has been profitable since its launch in 2005.
