Cairns Convention Centre Voted In World's Top 3 Venues
|The Cairns Convention Centre has been announced in the top three of the World's Best Congress Centres for 2005. This follows its winning the World's Best Congress Centre award last year. The announcement was made at the annual General Assembly of the International Association of Congress Centres (AIPC) in Quebec, Canada. The other two finalists were 2005 winner, Sophia Congress Centre in Bulgaria and Congress Innsbruck in Austria. |
Brussels-based AIPC presents its Apex Awards annually following an extensive and rigorous assessment of facilities nominated from 142 venue members in 50 countries. They are made on the basis of a comprehensive performance and customer satisfaction analysis carried out by an independent team from the University of Applied Sciences in Heilbronn, Germany.
Managing Director, Geoff Donaghy said the Cairns Convention Centre had set out to consistently deliver the standards of service that clients would expect to find in the world's major destinations.
"Last year's win confirmed the Centre had reached that peak. Just as importantly though, this year's recognition acknowledges those world-class standards are being consistently maintained," Mr Donaghy said.
The Cairns Convention Centre is managed by Ogden IFC, the largest venue management company in the Asia Pacific region. Among other venues it manages are Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, Telstra Stadium in Sydney and the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
