Anantara Opens New Global Sales Office In India; Appoints Regional Sales Director
|Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas, a leading developer and operator of luxury hotels, resorts and spas, in Asia, the Indian Ocean and the Middle East, has opened a Global Sales Office in India in the city of Mumbai. The newly appointed Regional Director of Sales for India, Mr. Shannon Creado, will be based there with a remit to promote Anantara's leading luxury portfolio to the hugely growing and as yet largely untapped market of India. |
The opening of the new Global Sales Office in India is a strategic move for Anantara in this key emerging market. With India's position as one of the BRICS nations, the potential from the Indian market is huge and this new sales office and sales appointment will strengthen Anantara's position to maximise the opportunities from this market.
Michael Marshall, SVP Commercial Operations for Minor Hotel Group, commented, "This is a key move for Anantara. We have seen the gradual increase in Indian guests at our properties but realise there is potential for many many more. We are keen to invest in this market and are confident that our new sales efforts in India will soon pay dividends."
Mr. Creado joined Anantara in November 2010 as Director of Sales & Marketing for Anantara Phuket Villas in Thailand, where he did an outstanding job in promoting and positioning the resort. A native Indian, from Goa, Mr. Creado started his career in hospitality in the early nineties in an operational role with Park Plaza Hotels in India. He soon moved into sales and marketing, working for Sterling Group, Birla AT&T Communications and then in 1999 joined Goa Marriott Resort as Sales Manager, where he worked his way up through the ranks to Director of Sales and then Director of Marketing.
In 2006 a move out of India followed to the JW Marriott in South Korea, before he joined Marriott's Thailand Sales & Marketing Office in Bangkok. Two years later Mr. Creado went back onto property as Director of Marketing at the JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa, which is owned by Minor Hotel Group, Anantara's owning company, before he joined Anantara Phuket Villas in his most recent role.
"It's an honour for me to be Anantara's first representative in India. For me the opportunity to combine returning to my home country with promoting this unique and growing brand is the best of both worlds. I am looking forward to making an impact in this market and showcasing the Anantara experience to the Indian traveller", commented Mr. Creado.
