Aloft Bangkok - Sukhumvit 11 Appoints New General Manager, Justin Malcolm

 Aloft Hotels has appointed Justin Malcolm as its new general manager of Aloft Bangkok -- Sukhumvit 11 of the first Aloft hotel in Southeast Asia.

Justin Malcolm who joined the 296-room Aloft Bangkok -- Sukhumvit 11 in January 2013, has a total of 18 years hospitality experience with Starwood Hotels & Resorts. In 1995, Justin's passion for the hospitality industry sparked at the Sheraton Sydney Airport Hotel, Australia where he held various roles before moving to the Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket, Thailand in 1998 as Assistant Manager. During his tenure there, Justin was instrumental in the successful launch of the award-winning reward program, Starwood Preferred Guest within the resort. He then moved back to Australia to join The Westin Sydney as a member of the pre opening management team, Westin's first hotel in the Pacific. There he held a number of key management roles in Rooms Division before being appointed Director of Six Sigma, Black Belt. As Director of Six Sigma, he successfully introduced and launched Six Sigma and was recognized for a number of industry leading projects, which contributed to the success of this award winning hotel.

Upon completion of his term in Sydney, Justin then moved to The Westin Kuala Lumpur in 2006 as Director - Rooms, overseeing the operation of 384 guest rooms and 68 executive residences where he was instrumental in increasing guest satisfaction and profitability, and won awards for the Excellence in Hotel Service, Best City Hotel, Hotel of the Year & Best Serviced Apartment Hotel. After the 2008 acquisition of an island in Maldives, Justin was appointed Resort Manager for Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort and Spa and was responsible for the complete conversion and renovation of Sheraton's luxury resort. During his time in Maldives Starwood awarded him as the most Inspiring Leader of the Year in 2009. Prior to joining Aloft Bangkok, Justin was the General Manager of Le Méridien Chiang Rai Resort for the past 2 years, and under his tenure the resort also received a number of industry leading awards, including 2012 Best Reputation Management by HOTELS Magazine, TripAdvisor's Travelers' Choice Award for Top 25 luxury hotels in Thailand as well as being ranked #1 on TripAdvisor. Justin was the founding Chairman of PATA Chiang Rai Chapter and won PATA's 2012 Face of the Future award for his efforts in building and driving tourism in Chiang Rai.
