CWT Meetings & Events Expands Strategic Meetings Management Solutions Offering

CWT Meetings & Events has expanded its Strategic Meetings Management (SMM) Solutions practice by hiring Melissa Nahama as director, SMM Solutions + Analytics to support the growing needs of clients. In this newly created role, Nahama will drive CWT's SMM Solutions work to support global expansion, providing leadership to the program management and data analytics teams.

"We began offering SMM solutions to our clients in July 2010 and have successfully grown the practice by more than 200 percent," said Kari Wendel, senior director, SMM Strategy + Solutions, CWT Meetings & Events. "We saw a dramatic increase in requests for SMM design and deployment in 2012, with many organizations tackling meeting registration and venue sourcing. In 2013, we expect many additional companies to follow suit and anticipate that those who have already entered the SMM space to continue to expand their initiatives."

A life sciences client recently engaged CWT Meetings & Events to design an SMM strategy supporting the need for technology, compliance, and stakeholder engagement. Commenting on the success of the program, the company's vice president of procurement for travel & meetings said, "the team of SMM experts from CWT Meetings & Events made the impossible a reality. Our schedule was unrealistic and our goals seemed out of reach, but in addition to meeting our goals, the team exceeded the expectations of our stakeholders. Because of this success, we've been given the green light to move forward with our global expansion and launch into Europe, the Middle East and Asia in partnership with CWT Meetings & Events."

Nahama brings more than 20 years of industry experience across all areas of travel to CWT and holds a true passion for SMM. She is a leader in the development of best in class strategic meetings programs and will utilize her expertise to support the expansion of CWT's SMM practices beyond the Americas. She most recently served as account manager for Maxvantage, where she supported a portfolio of pharmaceutical, healthcare, consumer goods, and professional services clients in achieving their SMM goals. She holds a Strategic Meetings Management Certification (SMMC) from the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) and is a member of Meeting Professionals International (MPI), where she served on the Knowledge Advisory Group for their World Education Congress and is currently supporting the new MPI/GBTA partnership to drive the next phase of SMM industry education as a part of the Education Steering Committee. Nahama is based in Philadelphia, Pa. and reports directly to Kari Wendel.
