Melbourne Convention Bureau Appoints Director of Business Development In The US
|The Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB) has appointed Jaclyn Weinstein to the new position of Director of Business Development, North America, Chief Executive Officer Karen Bolinger announced today.|
Ms Weinstein's appointment follows the engagement of Myriad Marketing as the organisation's new representation agency for North America, announced in December last year as part of MCB's new Strategic Business Plan, which aims to position Melbourne as one of the world's premier business events destinations.
Ms Weinstein joins MCB from BSC Management -- an association and conference management company -- where she spent seven years working as an Executive Director and Senior Conference Manager for the American Radium Society and the North American Skull Base Society. In this role she demonstrated a particular strength in cultivating client relationships and association financial management.
She has also previously worked in business events roles within Tourism Australia (Los Angeles), Carlisle Incentives (Los Angeles), and the International Economic Development Council (Washington D.C.).
Ms Weinstein holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and Masters of Tourism Administration majoring in Event Management, and is a member of the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) and Meeting Professionals International (MPI).
"Jaclyn's background in association management will be invaluable in promoting Melbourne to the all-important North American market as we increase our efforts in this region," said Ms Bolinger.
"Jaclyn is starting with us at a crucial time as we head into the new financial year armed with our 2013/14 Strategic Business Plan, which will see a focus on business development activity in the association and incentive sectors in the US."
Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre's Chief Executive, Peter King, also welcomed the addition of Ms Weinstein to the team.
"Jaclyn will play a vital role in ensuring Melbourne is top of mind for conference and event planners in North America, and reinforce the fact Melbourne and MCEC are world leaders in business events. She will help us go to the next level and present the US with great options and compelling reasons to visit this city."
Ms Weinstein will report to Julia Swanson, MCB's General Manager, Business Development and Bids, and will commence on 20 May, 2013 based at Myriad Marketing in New York.
