AEG Ogden Installs General Manager For Sydney's Glebe Island Exhibition Facility
|AEG Ogden has moved quickly to install an experienced management team at the Sydney Exhibition Centre at Glebe Island following its appointment by the New South Wales Government to operate the facility.|
AEG Ogden's Director of Convention Centres, Geoff Donaghy announced today that experienced venue executive, Ms. Malu Barrios has been appointed General Manager of the Glebe Island facility in Sydney, Australia.
Ms. Barrios has for the past five years overseen the opening and ongoing success of the AEG Ogden managed Darwin Convention Centre.
Prior to Darwin she was General Manager of Sydney Showground for five years and spent six years as Events Director at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, also operated by AEG Ogden.
The Sydney Exhibition Centre at Glebe Island will be open for the 2014 exhibition season and will offer 25,000 square metres of high quality, fully enclosed space specifically constructed for Sydney's exhibitions and tradeshows.
It will house Sydney's leading public exhibitions and trade shows during the development of the new 20 hectare international convention, exhibition and entertainment precinct at Darling Harbour.
AEG Ogden is part of the Darling Harbour Live consortium, which is partnering with the NSW Government to deliver the new, world class convention, exhibition and entertainment facilities at Darling Harbour, and will operate of the International Convention Centre (ICC) Sydney, due for completion in December 2016.
AEG Ogden is contracted to Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority, the government agency responsible for the operation of the Sydney Exhibition Centre at Glebe Island and the new facilities proposed for Darling Harbour.
AEG Ogden is a joint venture between Australian venue management interests and AEG Facilities of the United States.
AEG Ogden manages venues throughout the Asia Pacific region, including convention centres in Brisbane, Cairns, Darwin, Kuala Lumpur, Qatar, Oman (under construction), Sydney (construction commencing 2014) and the Sydney Exhibition Centre at Glebe Island (from February 2014); arenas including Sydney's Allphones Arena, the Sydney Entertainment Centre (from December 2013), the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, the Newcastle Entertainment Centre and Perth Arena; Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane; and live theatres including Perth's His Majesty's Theatre, Perth Concert Hall, the WA State Theatre Centre, Albany Entertainment Centre, and Subiaco Arts Centre.
