DayTimers and Palm Deliver Custom Handheld Solution

DayTimers, Inc. and Palm, Inc. today announced an agreement to sell Palm(TM) products bundled with DayTimer(R) products. DayTimers, a leader in time management products since 1947, has teamed up with Palm, the leading provider of handheld computers, to create life planning systems that combine incredible ease of use with cutting edge technology. DayTimers, Inc. is the first original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to provide Palm products to Target Superstores (US).

Under terms of the agreement between Palm and ACCO North America, Palm will provide DayTimers with Palm m100 handhelds that will be combined with DayTimer paper and software products in an easy to use, value priced DTO(R) Bundle for the consumer. The bundle is available immediately through Target Superstores nationwide, or the DayTimer catalog for $179.

"The DayTimers agreement with Palm represents an important step in new and exciting products that merge the best in traditional planning products with the latest in technology," said Jay P. Zavada, vice president of Marketing for DayTimers, Inc. "The unmatched strength and quality of the DayTimer name combined with Palm's strong presence in the technology segment will provide highly unique and compelling solutions for consumers well into the future."

"The Palm m100 handheld was created with the entry level user in mind, and the agreement with DayTimers makes it even easier for new users to make the jump to a handheld computer," said Denny Riley, senior director of OEM sales for Palm, Inc. "This agreement opens up new customer segments for Palm and provides a wonderful opportunity to introduce an even greater number of consumers to Palm handhelds."

As consumers' comfort level with high tech products builds and price tags become less intimidating, they are turning to technology to help them manage their lives in and away from the workplace. Today, electronic access and handheld computers are found in nearly every home in America. Yet, as pleased as consumers are with their handhelds, some still cling to the comfortable familiarity of paper based planners and note pads.

The new DTO(R) Bundle delivers the functionality of a Palm handheld and includes DayTimers' acclaimed DTO(R) 2000 software that helps organize every facet of the user's life. The software features a ToDo list that is printable on DayTimer computer paper (included), making it simple to slip the printed sheets into a DayTimer binder for an instant "big picture" overview.

"Now our customers can have what they've been looking for the power of a computer combined with the comfortable familiarity and convenience of a paper based planner," said Zavada.

The DTO Bundle also lets users customize and personalize their handheld through colorful faceplates that snap on and off. The bundle ships with Black and Pacific Blue Metallic interchangeable faceplates. Additional faceplates are available in Ruby Pearl, Silver Mist, Blue Mist, and Green Mist. The Palm m100 handheld features 2MB of on board memory and runs thousands of available third party applications.
