Japan Airlines And IBM Japan To Enhance JAL IT Strategy
|Japan Airlines and IBM Japan have reached a basic agreement on a tie-up aimed at the enhancement of JAL's Information Technology (IT) strategy.|
To construct a high-quality IT system for strategic planning in a timely fashion, JAL has decided to work with IBM Japan, which offers the most advanced IT skills. The content of the agreement includes large-scale outsourcing of IT systems development, operation and maintenance by IBM Japan.
For implementation of the agreement, IBM Japan will merge their most advanced technology and vast experience, gained through outsourcing business for other international and domestic companies, with JAL's airline business know-how, of which JAL Infotech (JIT), a JAL subsidiary, has a thorough knowledge. It will thus offer the most appropriate IT service for JAL.
The agreement will be progressed by equity participation and assignment of IBM personnel to JAL Infotech (JIT), to develop the airline subsidiary's IT business skills.
JAL Infotech and IBM Japan will make use of IBM Japan's marketing and technological power, working together to enhance JIT's competitiveness through its business with other companies.
