Accor To Offer Destination Smart Card

 In an initiative designed to increase tourism spend and stay, Accor has joined forces with Smartvisit Solutions Australia, the country?s leading tourism smart card marketing company, to revolutionise the visitor experience for interstate and international travellers. Accor and Smartvisit Solutions have signed a strategic marketing alliance. The hotel group will become the exclusive accommodation provider, able for the first time to uniquely deliver the full destination experience, on an easy-to-use smart card.

The first smart card product adopted by Accor will be See Sydney & Beyond. This will provide travellers with unlimited access to more than 50 attractions as well as offering special ?value? deals at retail and dining outlets across greater Sydney and the Blue Mountains. The all-inclusive smart card is available for 1, 2, 3 & 7-day durations for both adults and children and comes with an optional public transport component and a full colour guidebook, providing visitors with an easy and convenient way to see and do more. ?The alliance between Accor and Smartvisit Solutions will, for the first time, result in the creation of a partnership between the marketing of accommodation and the destination experience designed to encourage visitors to do more and stay longer, ? said Ray Stone, Accor?s General Manager of Sales and Marketing.

Industry estimates indicate an additional $190 million in revenue could be generated within NSW alone if international visitors spent just one more day in the state. ?After braving difficult times, the tourism industry is in need of a boost,? said Ryan Rieveley, Co-Managing Director of Smartvisit Solutions. ?See Sydney & Beyond is designed to help drive additional revenue streams by providing an innovative product that can be marketed to the leisure, business, conference and incentive sectors.

As the largest accommodation provider in greater Sydney with over 3,500 rooms, Accor will begin the marketing of the Smartvisit Solutions' See Sydney & Beyond product in its winter campaign, being launched in June 2002.

The first SeeSydneyCard was launched to the Industry at ATE in 2001 and has delivered more than 22,000 visits to participating partner attractions in the first six months of trading. Smartvisit Solutions at the Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE) will officially launch the extended product in Brisbane, June 2002.
