Jamaica's Partnership With Expedia Reaping Tremendous Success
|The Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) is reporting revenue increases resulting from its partnership with Expedia, Inc., the world's largest online travel company. The JTB utilizes Expedia Affiliate Network (EAN) to power its website's online booking engine. At the end of the second quarter, revenue for Jamaica bookings via EAN had grown by 8 percent, while average daily rates were up by 12 percent. Jamaica's Director of Tourism John Lynch is encouraged and believes this underscores the popularity of Jamaica as a first-rate vacation option for travelers. |
"We are pleased that our partnership with Expedia has resulted in significant benefits for Jamaica and look forward to strengthening the bonds of cooperation," said Director Lynch. "With millions of consumers using Expedia, we're working on positioning strategies for the island to gain an even greater share of bookings for Jamaica."
Expedia, Inc. executives, who met recently with senior Jamaican tourism officials, reiterated their commitment to strengthening the existing relationship with Jamaica.
"Over 1.2 million travelers used Expedia, Inc. sites around the world to book their trips to the Caribbean in the past year," said Demetrius Canton, Expedia director of lodging for the Caribbean. "We are dedicated to working with our partners in Jamaica to grow that number in the years to come."
The Expedia team, which was in Jamaica to attend the annual Jamaica Product Exchange (JAPEX), included Marco Tagliatti, Vice President, Lodging Supply, Latin America & Caribbean, Expedia (r) Partner Services Group; Nashara Frazier, Senior Market Manager Expedia (r) Partner Services Group and Courtney Foste, Business Development Manager, Expedia Media Solutions.
