Scrub Island Resort, Spa & Marina, BVI, Appoints Industry Veterans To Four New Positions
|Scrub Island Resort, Spa & Marina, BVI recently appointed three industry veterans to fill key director-level positions at the resort – managing director, general manager, director of finance – along with a key management position for Ixora Spa. With decades of hospitality experience and careers marked by success, this group of talented professionals will take over day-to-day operations and spearhead a new era for the popular island resort.|

An established hospitality leader with exceptional managerial skills, James (Jim) Miller will be Scrub Island Resort's new managing director. Miller will utilize his more than 35 years of executive leadership experience to oversee every aspect of island operations and development, while leading the resort to the highest levels of service and guest satisfaction. Throughout his career, Miller has been integral in earning national recognition for his various properties, including AAA’s Five-Diamond, Canada Select's Five-Star, and a #1 ranking in Customer Service Satisfaction within all brands of Hilton Hotels Worldwide.

The new general manager of Scrub Island Resort, Douglas (Chip) Nelson began his nearly 30 year career in hotel and resort operations with Marriott, working his way up to hold director positions in food and beverage, event management, operations and general management. As general manager of Scrub Island Resort, Nelson will direct all departments, operations and revenue management at the private island property. Nelson has previously held positions in St. Kitts, Miami and throughout the western U.S.
A nearly 30-year veteran of finance in the hospitality industry, Daniel L.A. de Kok, joins the Scrub Island Resort team as the new director of finance. De Kok comes to Scrub Island Resort from Wyndham Bay Point Golf Resort & Spa in Panama City Beach, Fla. and has previously worked at a number of Florida and Caribbean properties. He will bring a number of accounting and finance skills to the table which will be highly utilized as the resort takes on further growth and advancement.
Denise Gordon-Morrison has taken over as spa manager of Scrub Island Resort's luxurious Ixora Spa. As spa manager, Gordon-Morrison will direct the spa's extensive services and superb staff, as well as perform day-to-day operations and work directly with guests to provide select spa services. With a decade of practice in esthetics, cosmetology and massage therapy, Gordon-Morrison is an advanced facials specialist and was most recently assistant spa manager at Canyon Ranch Spa in Tucson, Arizona.

Opened in July 2010, Scrub Island Resort, Spa & Marina is named after its location, a serene 230-acre private-island haven situated at the east end of Tortola in the British Virgin Islands.
