Disney Cruise Lines Returns To Vancouver In 2013
|Vancouver is once again the home port for Disney Cruise Lines' Alaska sailings. Disney debuted its Alaska-bound cruises from Vancouver in 2011, but switched to Seattle in 2012. However, Vancouver's closer proximity to Alaska, positive feedback from travellers and routing through the unique "Inside Passage" contributed to Disney's decision to reinstate Vancouver as the departure point. Starting May 27, the Disney Wonder will depart Vancouver with 16 scheduled sailings throughout the year, travelling through the fjord at Tracy Arm and docking in the Alaskan ports of Skagway, Juneau and Ketchikan. During its time in Vancouver, Disney Cruise Lines carried approximately 90,000 passengers and contributed $40 million to the city's economy.|
In 2013, the collective Vancouver and Alaska cruise fleet will increase capacity by 27 percent, bringing close to 850,000 passengers to Vancouver.
