Disney Cruise Lines Returns To Vancouver

Mickey and friends are gearing up to return to Vancouver this cruise season. Starting May 27, Disney Cruise Lines' Disney Wonder will depart Vancouver 16 times throughout the year, travelling through the fjord at Tracy Arm and docking in the Alaskan ports of Skagway, Juneau and Ketchikan.

Disney's Vancouver-based cruises debuted in 2011, carrying approximately 90,000 passengers and contributing $40 million to the city's economy. The organization switched to Seattle as the departure hub for 2012, but feedback from travellers and Vancouver's closer proximity to Alaska contributed to Disney's decision to reinstate the city as home port for Wonder.

Another huge draw: Vancouver's Alaska-bound cruises take visitors through the breathtaking Inside Passage, a stretch of ocean bordered by scenic archipelagos and the mountainous coasts of Alaska, British Columbia and Washington State.

In 2013, the collective Vancouver and Alaska fleet is expected to increase capacity by 24 percent, bringing more than 830,000 revenue passengers to Vancouver.
