Bell Canada, Vancouver Convention Centre Expansion Project Partnership
|Bell Canada and the Vancouver Convention Centre Expansion Project (VCCEP) have announced a partnership to deliver the world's most technologically advanced meeting facility. Bell will deliver a fully outsourced Information and Communication Technology (ICT) solution to support the Centre's 2008 expansion, its 2010 Winter Games needs and more.|
"Our business partnership with the Vancouver Convention Centre Expansion Project marks a significant milestone in Bell's growth plan for Western Canada," said Charles Brown, President, Bell Western Region. "We understand the evolving needs of the Vancouver Convention & Exhibition Centre and its customers, and are committed to delivering innovative technology throughout the partnership. We will design and build supporting technologies into the very fabric of the building with every beam constructed and every wall built."
"We went to the marketplace to find the best possible partner to deliver unparalleled technology and meet our customer's needs now and well into the future," noted Honourable Stan Hagen, Minister of Tourism, Sport and the Arts. "With Bell, we have a partner who is not only a leader in innovation, but they also provided creative technology solutions outside of our original requirements, helping to make our convention centre an even more impressive place to meet. The combination of Bell's technology, our incredible waterfront location, and our talented people will continue to make the Vancouver Convention & Exhibition Centre a leading destination for meetings and conventions, driving increased visitor traffic year over year to British Columbia."
To prepare for the opportunity to partner with VCCEP, Bell performed a global review of conference facilities and brought together its leading experts nationwide - from IP to mobility to broadcast to satellite to innovation - to help deliver the convention centre of the future. The result was the development of an IP network, products and services able to harness the full capabilities of Bell's wired, wireless, Internet and video services.
2010 Winter Games International Broadcast Centre and Main Press Centre
"This partnership also illustrates the value of Bell's role as Telecommunications Partner to the 2010 Winter Games, during which the Vancouver Convention & Exhibition Centre will become the International Broadcast Centre and Main Press Centre," Brown added. "Believed to be the largest customer project ever booked in advance of a convention centre build, the broadcast and press centres will be the heart of the video, audio and media transmission to an audience of as many as three billion people worldwide during the 2010 Winter Games. Bell is thrilled that its High Definition technology will showcase British Columbia and Canada to the world."
