Hawai'i Convention Center Meets Its Goal From Promotional Program

 The Hawai'i Convention Center announced that they have met their goal in securing five new conventions from a promotional package designed around the Center's 10th anniversary.

The 10th Anniversary Destination Package - worth $175,000 in promotional and destination programs was intended to persuade groups and organizations to book the Hawai'i Convention Center for future meetings with 2,500 delegates or more. The package was premiered at the Professional Convention Management Association's (PCMA) Annual Meeting held in Seattle, Washington, in January of this year. The groups who have confirmed bookings are as follows:

• International Society for the Prevention of Child Abuse -- September, 2010
• American Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation -- April, 2011
• Society of American Archeology -- April, 2013
• Society of Hospital Medicine -- April, 2014
• Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers -- June, 2017

The five new bookings represent over $72 million in future statewide spending along with nearly $7 million in tax revenue. The Hawai'i Convention Center's hotel partners will benefit with over 173,000 booked rooms.

"We are extremely happy that these groups took advantage of our 10th Anniversary Destination Package ," said Joe Davis, SMG general manager of the Hawai'i Convention Center. "It is definitely a win-win situation for these groups and for the Hawai'i Convention Center to be able to host them."

The $175,000 in promotional and destination programs include the off-set in rent at the Center, pre-event promotions, inclusion of an international attendance building program or any other custom options specifically tailored for the client's needs.

The PCMA Annual Meeting is the premier event for meetings industry leaders to learn new strategies, discover innovative solutions, and share best practices. The Hawai'i Convention Center was joined by the Hawai'i Visitors and Convention Bureau (HVCB), the Hawai'i Tourism Authority (HTA), as well as some of its valued hotel partners. The 30 member team from Hawai'i met with over 3,000 meetings industry colleagues for more than 80 cutting-edge education sessions and outstanding networking opportunities.
