Baltimore Convention Center
|The Baltimore Convention Center is the ultimate symbol of the City's commitment to the meetings and conventions industry. Located in the heart of downtown Baltimore's Inner Harbor, the center's location is a visitor's dream and a meeting planner's delight. It is linked by a series of overhead walkways to the Inner Harbor, hotels, fine dining, shopping and a variety of attractions.|
The Baltimore Convention Center is one of the most versatile, wellequipped, competitive, meeting facilities in the country. With 300,000 square feet of contiguous exhibition space, approximately 85,000 square feet of meeting space (50 rooms) and a multifunctional 36,672-square-foot ballroom, the center is able to host a variety of events large and small. The center serves its clients with a world- class catering partner -- Centerplate; an optional, on-site audio/visual provider; and a telecommunications provider with access to state-of-the-art systems.
The Baltimore Convention Center is committed to becoming a model facility for green meeting practices. It is the first convention center in the country to operate SOMAT, a two-part waste reduction system that reduces solid waste up to 90 percent, and produces a useable soil product. In addition, the center is committed to implementing daily use products that are environmentally friendly for facility-wide cleaning and maintenance. Sixty percent of the current product inventory is environmentally friendly. Research and planning is being undertaken to ensure that 100 percent of cleaning products will be Earth friendly in the near future.
This year, the Baltimore Convention Center unveiled its new "green roof." Almost half of the 12,245-square-foot roof consists of vegetative roofing, which includes an herb garden whose bounty will be utilized in the center's state-of-the-art kitchen facility.
Located off of Interstates 95, 295, 83 and 395, the Baltimore Convention Center is a 15-minute drive from the airport, is a five-minute taxi ride from Baltimore's Penn Station, is located directly across the street from the Camden Yards MARC commuter and Light Rail train station, and is a stop on the Charm City Circulator.
