The Stonyford Group Announces New Executive Retreat Concept

The Stonyford Group will unveil an exclusive new executive retreat, Stonyford Ranch, in March, 2003, according to company Founder and CEO Alex Marks. Formed by a group of business executives, experienced facilitators and authentic cowboys, Stonyford is designed to host only one retreat at a time in order to cater to every conceivable need of each individual group of six to 15 guests. Nestled in the mountains east of the Mendocino National Forest, and only three hours from San Francisco, Stonyford Ranch has been designed as the ultimate destination for executives who need to get away and get down to business with their most valuable players.

Privately owned, The Stonyford Ranch is a year-round working cattle and horse ranch, spanning 51,000 acres (or 70 square miles of pastures). With four stocked lakes and two beautiful creeks, the ranch is home to 50 horses, over 1000 cattle and buffalo as well as many species of wild birds and animals.

Guests stay in the guest house which was constructed in 2000 out of wood grown on the ranch. The six deluxe guest rooms, each with creative western themes, feature accommodations for up to four people with views overlooking a beautiful green pasture.
The Great Room is a gathering area which boasts a uniquely designed walk-in fire place and conveniently converts into a formal meeting area accommodating up to 15 people.
One of the most charming aspects of this unique retreat site is that groups participate in the ranch activities, giving the guests an opportunity to learn more about ranching and livestock. Led by internationally revered horse trainer and musician Mike Beck, groups will work with the animals as well as one another.

"Successful business leaders are constantly looking for new experiences which stimulate creativity and develop company culture," comments Alex Marks. He continues, "In today's economy, golf outings and boardroom meetings just don't cut it anymore, it takes a unique offsite to spark fresh ideas and build loyal relationships. That's what we've created at Stonyford."

The Stonyford Ranch is far more than a meeting facility. The principals take the time to meet with each group planner and carefully review the retreat objectives. Individualized group programs are created to accomplish the goals set forth. An example of some of the available activities include: horsemanship clinics; horseback riding; 4x4 rides; cattle work; doctoring; feeding and herding; fishing; team scavenger hunts; guided and unguided hikes; ranch work; hay rides; skeet shooting; volleyball; basketball; horseshoes; cowboy poetry; and many other customized activities.

The ranch has a variety of meeting locations available. In addition to the Great Room, groups may also choose a remote location in the hills or along the creek. The outdoor meeting sites are not surrounded by mahogany paneling, but rather thousands of beautiful oak trees and miles of scenery. Business aids include: high speed data ports; fax/copy/printer/scanner; LCD projector, flip charts, white boards; and telephone (limited cell phone coverage).

All meals at the ranch are custom designed by a resident chef who will personalize menus to correspond with each individual group's needs.

The ranch is an easy drive from Sacramento and the Bay Area. However, the ranch can arrange for full service limousine and air transportation to the ranch.

Pricing is determined by the size of the group, length of stay, food and beverage program, transportation options and on-site recreation activities. The rates are inclusive of taxes, personal gifts, meeting facilities, business center aids, service charges and all gratuities.
