Vancouver's BC Place Stadium Receives A Facelift
|For nearly 30 years, Vancouver's BC Place stadium has been a province-wide icon, serving not only as an arena but also accommodating trade and consumer shows, world-class entertainment and special occasions (which, over the years, have included a royal visit from Queen Elizabeth II and the opening and closing ceremonies of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games). |
But parts of the structure, especially the original roof, were long overdue for renovations, leading the Province of British Columbia to initiate a $563-million revitalization process. Renovations for the 55,000-seat venue were recently unveiled to the public, including an energy-efficient retractable roof that's the biggest of its kind in the world; FIFA-certified turf; and the second-largest video-board in North America.
Other changes include upgrades to the arena's 50 private guest suites as well as the addition of 1,300 premium Club Seats and two new Club Lounges.
