Vancouver's BC Place Stadium Receives A Facelift

For nearly 30 years, Vancouver's BC Place stadium has been a province-wide icon, serving not only as an arena but also accommodating trade and consumer shows, world-class entertainment and special occasions (which, over the years, have included a royal visit from Queen Elizabeth II and the opening and closing ceremonies of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games).

But parts of the structure, especially the original roof, were long overdue for renovations, leading the Province of British Columbia to initiate a $563-million revitalization process. Renovations for the 55,000-seat venue were recently unveiled to the public, including an energy-efficient retractable roof that's the biggest of its kind in the world; FIFA-certified turf; and the second-largest video-board in North America.
Other changes include upgrades to the arena's 50 private guest suites as well as the addition of 1,300 premium Club Seats and two new Club Lounges.
