Vancouver Convention Centre Launches New Mobile Website For Smart Phone Users
|The Vancouver Convention Centre has announced the launch of its new mobile website tailored for smart phone users.|
"With majority of our clients and guests using iPhones, Blackberrys and other mobile devices, our new mobile-friendly website is designed to enhance their online experience with us," says Claire Smith, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Vancouver Convention Centre. "We know that mobile users want to find information quickly and the website was developed with this in mind. It presents content that is not only easy to navigate but also relevant to a mobile user interested in our facility."
"Our regular website is truly meant to provide a different experience to those guests who have more time to browse and who are looking for detailed information. While the full website is not optimized for viewing on smart phones, the mobile site is tailored for this purpose," adds Smith.
The mobile site is designed to offer convenient access to the most requested information: floor plans, directions to the facility, calendar of events, video and photo gallery, contact directory and general organizational overview.
"With the popularity of customized mobile apps, we thoroughly explored the benefits of this feature compared to a mobile website," explains Smith. "We opted for a mobile site because we know that many of our clients develop their own mobile app for their convention or event. We did not want to duplicate efforts and feel our new site complements our clients' initiatives while further enhancing the experience of delegates at our facility."
The only two-time winner of the International Association of Congress Centres' APEX award for "World's Best Convention Centre," the Vancouver Convention Centre features two connected buildings with a combined total of 466,500 ft2 (43,340 m2) of flexible meeting, exhibition, ballroom and plenary space. Since inception, the facility has demonstrated a constant commitment to service, technical and culinary excellence, as well as environmental sustainability. In fact, the Centre's West building has received LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum certification, and is the only convention centre in the world awarded the highest LEED rating.
