Panama Partners With MCIntl To Open North American Marketing & Sales Office For MICE
|The Tourism Authority of Panama (ATP) has selected Marketing Challenges Intl. (MCIntl) as the official North American marketing and sales office for the country's growing meetings and conventions business. One of the safest and most modern countries in the region, Panama has seen immense economic growth in recent years and has become a top business hub in Latin America. With this new partnership with MCIntl, as well as new investments in infrastructure, hotels, and meetings facilities, Panama is set to become a leading destination for meetings, conventions, and incentives in the Americas.|
"We are very excited to be working with this dynamic and beautiful country," says Michel Couturier, President of MCIntl. "Panama is the gateway and financial center to Latin America, with great connectivity, easy access and brand new facilities. It is a very important destination for the North America market. Panama is the perfect hub for North American corporations and associations reaching out markets in Central and South America. "
With its modern infrastructure, easy air access, and a wealth of cultural and natural attractions, Panama has long been a best-kept secret among meetings and incentives planners. The country currently features 550,000 square feet of meeting space and more than 24,000 hotel rooms from leading international brands, including Hilton, Marriott, Sheraton, Westin, Wyndham and more. Panama City's Tocumen International Airport is one of the region's busiest, offering more than 80 direct flights to the Caribbean, Central and South America and 17 to North America, as well as direct flights from Europe daily.
Friendly economic and tourism policies also make Panama a highly attractive, affordable option, particularly for U.S. meeting planners. The world's second largest Free Trade Zone, U.S. dollar is the official currency, and is also part of the IRS tax exemption that allows U.S. companies to deduct business expenses for meetings held in the country. To ensure the comfort and safety of all guests, Panama also grants all visitors free medical emergency insurance for 30 days from entry.
This best-kept secret may not hold much longer, however-in 2015 the new Panama Convention Center in the capital city will open, adding an additional 570,505 square feet of meeting space. With a total investment of $193 million, this magnificent new convention center will also feature an auditorium and outdoor amphitheater in state-of-the-art facilities overlooking the iconic Panama Canal, which celebrates 100 years of operation this year.
