Puerto Vallarta NATJA Conference Closes With Record Numbers
|The Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board closed the Puerto Vallarta edition of the North American Travel Journalists Association (NATJA) conference & marketplace with 150 members visiting Puerto Vallarta from May 5-9. #NATJAPV15 was the largest conference for the association, and the largest US or Canadian media association event to take place in Mexico.|
Social media impact of the conference was huge, with a Twitter party taking place on April 23 that made #NATJAPV15 a trending topic in the United States for almost 4 hours with almost 17 million impressions. During the week of the conference, 515 active users reached almost 2 million followers and provided #NATJAPV14 with almost 26 million impressions with #puertovallarta being the conferences most posted keyword.
During the conference, NATJA members, who have published in diverse media outlets including National Geographic Traveler, The New York Times, Yahoo Travel, PBS and others, attended professional trainings as well as had the opportunity to experience the diversity of products the destination offers its visitors, from canopy to cooking classes to SPA treatments.
The conference opened on May 5th with a series of events including a scavenger hunt that released all participants in a pedestrian race across the city's almost 100-year-old downtown. This was followed by a special keynote by travel and tourism personality, Andrew McCarthy and a very special dinner at Vallarta Adventure's Rhythms of the Night . The 100% sustainable enterprise, Canopy River, ended the conference with a Jalisco Carnival with Mariachis, dancing horses, lasso tricks and fireworks that lit-up the mountains of the Sierra Madre Mountain range.
Industry sponsorship for the conference included the destination's top airlines, Alaska Airlines and Delta Air Lines and Grupo Velas' Velas Vallarta which hosted the members for the entire conference and provided a welcome dinner on May 4th with the Mexico Tourism Board.
Over 50 local partners participated in the NATJA Conference and Marketplace representing Puerto Vallarta's world-renown tourism offering, including its culinary scene with Vista Grill, River Café, Café des Artistes, Trio, Michel, Tapas Barcelona, La Leche, El Arrayan and Vallarta Food Tours. CANOPY RIVER, Dolphins at Dolphin Discovery, Botanical Garden, Salado Estuary, Hacienda el Divisadero, Pirate Ship, Mike's Fishing and Hacienda Doña Engracia provided outside activities while the Mantamar beach club the Marriott's award winning Ohtli and Secrets Spa by Pevonia at Secrets Vallarta Bay resort proved that Puerto Vallarta can be relaxing and luxurious.
