Lieutenant Governor Newsom To Keynote First "Stay Green Forum"; Hosted by Hotel Council of San Francisco
|California Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom is scheduled to keynote the Hotel Council of San Francisco's first "Stay Green Forum" on Feb. 17, 2016 at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square.|
Sustainability is synonymous with the City of San Francisco-- when Lieutenant Governor Newsom was Mayor of San Francisco, the City became the first to ban plastic bags and to require all businesses and residents to recycle and compost -- leading other cities to do the same. Hotels in San Francisco are also leaders in sustainability -- many have demonstrated that greening operations protects the environment, enhances the guest experience, communicates brand values, and reduces operating costs.
"San Francisco is known for its sustainability leadership and we are proud that our hotel industry contributes to this success," says Hotel Council Executive Director, Kevin Carroll. "We are thrilled to offer a full day dedicated to sharing ideas in all areas of hotel operations, offering total insight into what sustainable hospitality is and how hotels can benefit from these practices."
The event will highlight sustainability best practices for all areas of hotel operations including:
- Understanding and Exceeding Guest Expectations
- Marketing Sustainability Efforts
- Current Trends and Future Innovations
- Encouraging Sustainable Behavior from Guests and Employees
- Identifying Key Project Funding Partners
"As hospitality professionals, we have the opportunity to bring awareness about environmental issues to our employees, as well as to visitors from around the world," shares Michael Pace, General Manager at Clift and Chair of the Hotel Council Sustainability Committee. "The Stay Green Forum will allow our industry to exchange ideas to protect our environment and reduce operating costs, without compromising the guest experience."
The Stay Green Forum is on February 17, 2016 from 8:30AM-5:30PM. Registration for members is $195; non-members $295. Register for the Stay Green Forum at www.hotelcouncilsf.org
