Twinhead Unveils DURABOOK D13RY/D14RY Rugged Notebooks
|Twinhead Corporation, a worldwide leading manufacturer of notebook computers, officially launched its DURABOOK D13RY and D14RY models at this year's CES Show. The two models, from Twinhead's highly respected ruggedized notebook line, feature lightning-fast Intel Core Duo and Core 2 Duo processors as well as optional TPM 1.2, a hardware-based security technology that meets the highest international requirements for data protection. |
The DURABOOK D13RY and D14RY bring together Intel Centrino Duo mobile technology, Intel Pro/Wireless LAN 3945 ABG (802.11a/b/g), as well as Genuine Microsoft Windows XP (Professional and Home Editions). Both the DURABOOK D13RY and D14RY are Windows Vista Ready, and support DDRII 667 SDRAM.
The DURABOOK D13RY is a mobile multimedia center with 13.3" WXGA TFT LCD screen, 1.3 mega pixel webcam, and four 1-watt stereo speakers. The D14RY is built for the road warrior and includes a non-glare 14.1" XGA TFT LCD display.
Both new DURABOOKS offer a magnesium-alloy case that is 20 times stronger than ABS plastic. Offering a much higher survival rate after drops and bumps, DURABOOK cases have an anti-shock mounting design that protects the LCD screen and hard disk drive from damage and data loss, and a flexible HDD cable design which absorbs shock from drops. An exclusive optical disk tray lock prevents unintentional tray eject from drop and vibration.
To add to it's durability, the DURABOOK's spill-resistant design insulates the keyboard, touchpad and adjacent buttons, stopping spills from leaking into sensitive interior parts. Double protection smart battery circuitry prevents damage caused by current or voltage surges and overheating, while Twinhead's Smart Battery Calibration helps fight the loss of battery capacity after repeated charge-discharge cycles.
"DURABOOK notebook PCs have proven to be such reliable performers in the marketplace that Twinhead can offer a two-year service and support guarantee," said Steven Gau, President of Twinhead Corporation. "Our new D13RY and D14RY notebooks will give users the security, computing power and durability that is so needed in today's mobile computing environment."
The optional TPM (Trusted Platform Module) 1.2, the hardware-based security technology offered in the D13RY and D14RY, is an international standard created by the non-profit Trusted Computing Group. The TPM technology provides the most secure environment for mobile data protection based on the security protection being built within the PC hardware itself. More hacker-resistant than software solutions, TPM security has become a cornerstone solution for the IT community.
Security, however, is just one of the ways DURABOOK notebooks bring peace of mind. Since their debut nearly two years ago, DURABOOK PC design has re-defined performance and durability for a new generation of active PC users who put their computers to the test.
DURABOOK notebook PCs are built tough enough to meet U.S. military 810F standards for rugged performance. Each DURABOOK can withstand drops of 29 inches onto hard surfaces - the U.S. military performance standard. Whether bouncing in a pickup truck, dropped on an airport concourse, or caught in a cloudburst, DURABOOK mobile computers are born to take the punishment.
Other features in the DURABOOK D13RY and D14RY include optional 60/80/100 GB hard drives, Intel GMA950 generation integrated graphics engine, and optional Bluetooth 2.0 technology. Users can choose from a supplemental combo drive, DVD Dual, or Super-Multi DVD drive.
