Toshiba to Introduce Portable PCs With Intel Centrino Mobile Technology
|Toshiba Corporation has added two new models in its "DynaBook V7 series" of portable PCs and a new addition to its "dynabook SS S7" mobile notebook PC series that integrate the Intel CentrinoTM Mobile Technology platform. The new computers realize enhanced easy-of-use in mobile and wireless LAN environments by offering high performance and longer battery life.|
"DynaBook V7/516LMDW" is designed expressly for the consumer market. It integrates an Intel Pentium M Processor 1.6GHz, 512MB of main memory, a 15-inch TFT LCD, and support for wireless LAN and BluetoothTM. The integrated battery offers approximately 6.8 hours of operation, which can be nearly doubled to approximately 11 hours with an additional battery. Further high performance is offered by an "nVIDIA GeForce 4 420Go" graphics controller, high quality harman/kardon stereo speakers, a 60GB HDD, four USB2.0 ports and a multi drive. The PC is a clear-coated onyx blue and weighs in at 3.13kg.
The new mobile notebook PC, "DynaBook SS S7/290LNKW," weighs in at approximately 1.09kg and is as slim as 14.9mm at its thinnest part. It boasts an ultra low voltage operating version of the "Intel Pentium M Processor 900MHz, as well as 256MB DDR-based main memory, a 40GB HDD and support for wireless LAN. A large-capacity additional battery bundled with the computer pushes total operating time to approximately 8.1 hours. Data security is assured by an HDD password and "SD Token," an authentication key for SD cards. These measures enhance the safety and security of the PC when used in a mobile environment.
Both new models are provided with "ConfigFree," software supporting configuration-free connectivity to wireless LAN; users can easily switch between cable LAN and wireless LAN. If a wireless connection fails, the software automatically inspects the network to identify the problem, and so enhance wireless LAN easy-to-use.
