Bay Travel Becomes Maritime Travel @ The Bay

The Bay has announced that its travel operation, Bay Travel, is being renamed to Maritime Travel @ the Bay. In January 2002, Maritime Travel Inc. purchased the Bay Travel and as a result, all 20 Bay Travel locations will adopt the Maritime Travel brand. ?We are proud to be the chosen partner of Hudson?s Bay Company to become the exclusive operator of travel shops in Bay stores across Canada,? says Gary Gaudry, President, Maritime Travel Inc. ?The Bay is a well trusted brand in the Canadian marketplace and we are excited to build on the loyalty established by the Bay,? said Gaudry.

Through its retail formats, Hudson?s Bay Company strives to meet the majority of Canadian shopping needs. The introduction of Maritime Travel @ the Bay will enable the Company to provide experienced travel service to all Bay customers. Maritime Travel has been the exclusive operator of travel shops in Bay stores since January 2002.

?Building on the experience of both companies, Maritime Travel @ the Bay will offer nationally consistent customer service and competitive prices through the same capable agents whom customers have dealt with at the Bay,? said Mike Smalley, National Manager Licensed departments, the Bay.

Maritime Travel Inc. has been on the list of Canada?s 50 Best Managed Companies in 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001. It began with a single storefront, called Maritime Travel, in 1949, and is today the largest travel agency in Atlantic Canada. Its operations consist of 85 retail locations across Canada, including Maritime Travel (formerly Maritime Marlin Travel), LeGrow?s Travel and Maritime Travel @ The Bay (formerly the Bay Travel) as well as a national call centre.
